Community Welcomes First New Mural
A Xenia Mural Society was formed as a component of Greene Giving, the Greene County Community Foundation. In August of 2011, we celebrated the completion of what we hope will be the first of many more new murals in Xenia in the years to come.
The Xenia Mural Society is made up of interested citizens who have volunteered their time and expertise to help provide direction and focus for the project. We will work to help building owners locate funding for the artwork from the private and public sectors and to promote expansion and preservation of other Xenia Murals in the future.

Our Purpose
1. Assist building owners – downtown and other -- within the city limits who want to use their buildings for non-commercial, civic-oriented visual art.
2. Encourage the City to enact an ordinance and/or guidelines that permits such displays.
3. Determine and delineate themes.
4. Distill lessons from other cities' mural projects (such as materials, maintenance, budgets, artist competition, etc.).
5. Collect good design ideas and share them with owners.
6. Help find good muralists and materials.
7. Identify best practices in maintenance.
8. Assist with finding sources of funding.
9. Gain owner’s commitment for maintenance
